Grenfell fire : The husband of a Moroccan victim granted a passport to attend his wife’s funeral

Following the tragic fire that broke off in the Grenfell tower in London, UK and which caused the death of several people including 7 Moroccans. Sabah Abdullah, the husband of Khadija Khalloufi who was killed in the blaze, was granted an emergency passport to attend his wife’s funeral in Morocco, Metro UK reports.

The retired university lecturer, who used to live in the 17th floor at the Grenfell building, lost his identity card and passport in the incident. The same source indicates that after submitting an application to receive a new passport, his appeal «was sped up and he received his documentation in time to fly out today».

Speaking to the BBC, Sabah Abdullah explained that «everything you can think of is gone – burned. I’m nobody». «I can’t leave her for another week or two; I can’t do that to her, I can’t do that. She needs some rest – she need to rest up, for good», he sighed

Sabah told the same source that he is «relieved now. At least I know I’m going to fulfill the wish of my late wife».

For the record, Sabah’s wife Khadija Khalloufi, a British citizen with Moroccan descent was found dead outside the building after being lost for days. The 52-year-old woman was identified by the police on the 17th of June as her body was lying on the grass just 50 feet awy from the burning around 6am.  

Sabah Abdullah declared before to the DailyMail that his wife will be buried in Morocco.
