Several journalists and the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People (AAPS) denounced yesterday in Palma (autonomous city), the fact that «Morocco does not want witnesses in Western Sahara in a round table entitled, reports Europa Press.

Journalist Ahmed Attanji commented on each of the most recent cases, including the recent expulsion of a British investigator for trying to inform about the socio-economic situation in Western Sahara. Ahmed Attanji mentioned, among other things, the «military blockage» and the «reprisals against Saharawi political detainees».

For her part, the AAPS President, Catalina Rosselló, explained that her NGO organized this round table to «denounce» the blockage and try to «raise awareness» among the public opinion «on the violation of human rights and the exploitation of natural resources».

When journalists want to go to Western Sahara, they are prevented from doing so, added Catalina Rosselló, adding that «if they can, they are monitored and expelled», while those who want to publish information are «persecuted».

Journalist Yolanda Sorbero, who has repeatedly covered news on the conflict in Western Sahara has also attended the round table.
