President Donald Trump hosted Wednesday, 6th of June, his first Ramadan Iftar at the White House but without inviting members of the Muslim community,  says France 24.

In gathering together this evening, we honor a sacred tradition of one of the world’s great religions”, he stated during the meal attended by Cabinet members and ambassadors from from Muslim-majority nations.

The annual tradition has obviously snubbed Muslim Americans. Several of them said they were not invited. The White House however did not disclose the identity of the guests.

Consequently, several organizations have called for boycotting the meal while others took their disappointment to the streets.

“We are no longer invited. We are being snubbed”, said Imam Yahya Hendi, chaplain at Georgetown University. In 2009, Yahya Hendi was invited to the iftar organized by Barack Obama.

The 20-year-old tradition, is supposed to "to honor the Muslim community and what it has brought to the United States throughout the history of this country," says the official.

"Trump is trying to prove that Muslims support his policy. He's already starting to change the way he talks about us," he said.

The president is obviously not wishing to give up on his immigration policy, targeting Muslims through the Muslim ban.
