Expected to perform on Friday, 14th of September, at the 18th edition of the annual Casablanca festival L’Boulevard, Moroccan-American singer Dounia cancelled her concert in Morocco. The information was confirmed by the artist herself and a member of the festival’s team.

On her Twitter account, Dounia told fans that her team wouldn’t be able to make it to Casablanca and that her performance was annulled. Responding to one of her followers, she tweeted saying : «No Unfortunately. My team wouldn’t approve for security reasons, very sad about it».

However, the reasons mentioned by the 20-year-old singer were not the same as the ones referred to by L’Boulevard. A member of the team working on the Casablanca festival told Yabiladi on Wednesday that «the concert was canceled for reasons related to payment procedures». «It was a period of holidays in the United States, which delayed the payment, and the jet lag added on that», said the same source.

«We have a really busy schedule and we had other priorities, so we won’t be able to replace Dounia with another artist. We will just expand the performance of Ness You and Block 10».

The same source told Yabiladi that «it is so sad that Dounia won't be present in this year’s edition». «It makes us feel sick as it is the first time that L’Bloulevard anulls a performance», concluded the same source.

Raised in Morocco and in New York’s Queens, Dounia is an activist, social media star and a plus size model who started a musical career based in the USA.
