Morocco ranks 6th worldwide in the 2026 Climate Change Performance Index, remaining the top performer in Africa thanks to strong climate policies, low emissions, and efficient energy use. However, the report warns that slow progress in renewable energy could undermine the country’s long-term climate ambitions unless reforms accelerate.
Tangier Med Port ranked fifth globally in the 2024 Container Port Performance Index, outperforming major ports in the Middle East and Europe. The index also highlighted mixed results for other Moroccan ports, with Casablanca placed 288th and Agadir 297th.
Morocco climbed nine places to 57th in the Global Innovation Index 2025, with strong performances in industrial designs, education spending, labor productivity, and scientific publications. However, weaknesses persist in research and development, infrastructure, and market sophistication, leaving the country behind regional leaders like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
