France arrests a man suspected of scamming the Moroccan state

A 47-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, October the 3rd in a bar called L’Assassin in Paris, after an arrest warrant was issued against him for being allegedly involved in a fraud case, reports RTL radio.

The same source indicates that the suspect managed to get employed by a Moroccan administration and was even heading the tax administration in Rabat.

The suspect took advantage of his position and closeness to the royal entourage, he succeeded in accessing information on state-owned lands and managed to sell two properties using false documents. He is also accused of embezzling 100,000 euros.

Once his plots were revealed, the man fled to France. The Moroccan authorities collaborated with their French counterparts to arrest him. The man is facing a 20-year-sentence in prison in Morocco.
