Moroccan player Hamza Mendyl has apologized on Sunday on his Instagram for insulting an Atlas Lions fan, reports Belgian daily 7 sur 7.

Mendyl who plays as a left-back for Schalke 04 got angry at a fan who criticized his playing techniques at the game that brought the Morocco national football team and Comoros on Saturday, 13th of October.

The player’s remarks sparked controversy on social media, which pushed him to publish an apology on his Instagram.

For the record, Hamza Mendyl is a Moroccan-Ivorian player who graduated from Mohammed V Football Academy. He joined Schalke 04 in August 2018 and was summoned this summer by the Atlas Lions’ coach Hervé Renard to be part of the 2018 World Cup squad.
