The Italian Chamber of Deputies adopted Wednesday, November the 28th, a decree putting a strain on migrants coming into the country, says Le Monde.

This new law replaces, in particular, humanitarian residence permits, currently granted to 25% of asylum seekers and for a period of two years, by various other permits.

The text also includes an emergency procedure set to expel applicants considered «dangerous». In addition, the reception system for asylum seekers, who were still 146,000 at the end of October, will be reorganized.

They will be grouped in large centers in order to save money. Finally, the law will allow the use of electric guns and facilitate the evacuation of occupied buildings.

Le Monde also indicates that the Italian government announced on Wednesday that it would not sign the United Nations pact of migration. Thus, the government will not participate in the summit scheduled for 10 and 11 December in Marrakech.
