Pope Francis’s top advisor is attending the UN sponsored summit on migration, scheduled for the 10th and 11th of December in Marrakech, reports online newspaper that focuses on news related to the Catholic Church Crux.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, December the 4th, Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, confirmed that «there will be a Holy See delegation that I myself will lead».

Commenting on the United Nations Intergovernmental Conference during which countries will adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, Parolin said that «the Holy See has collaborated, especially thanks to the section on migrants and refugees of the dicastery for Integral human development, in a significant way to the creation of this document».

According to Parolin, Pope Francis has been invited to attend the gathering, but he «declined at the last minute and will travel to Morocco in 2019 for a papal visit».

Indeed, the Vatican announced in November that Pope Francis is expected to pay Rabat and Casablanca a visit on March the 30th and 31st, 2019.

«Invited by King Mohammed VI and bishops, His Holiness Pope Francis will visit Morocco for an apostolic trip in March», said the Holy See in a statement.
