The arrest of the four suspects, allegedly involved in the killing of the two Scandinavian tourists in Imlil, was conducted in a professional manner, national security spokesman Boubker Sabik said.
The security services made sure, during the operation, to avoid any potential risks for the lives of citizens, Sabik told 2M Sunday during the show «Confidences de presse».
Authorities waited for the bus that was carrying the three suspects to leave the Bab Doukkala bus station in Marrakech before arresting them, he added.
The spokesperson stressed that the crime was an isolated act that has nothing to do with the terrorist organization «ISIS», adding that only 24 hours after authorities discovered the two bodies, the first suspect was identified and then arrested.
Only one of the four suspects had a criminal record, related to terror, indicated the official.
Regarding the graphic video, shared on social media, the official stated that authorities are still investigating its authenticity.
For the record, the bodies of the Danish and Norwegian backpackers were found near their tent, 10 kilometers away from Imlil. The remains of the two tourists were sent back home on Friday.
