Mohammed C., a 63-year-old Moroccan pensioner residing in Dijon, has been indicted for his alleged involvement in two long-unsolved murders in Isère. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, he is now under investigation for the killings of Nathalie Boyer in 1988 and Laïla Afif in 2000. His identity was reportedly confirmed through DNA traces found at one of the crime scenes.
Salafist detainees in Morocco have denounced, on several occasions, the Imlil killings. They fear that the tragedy would impact the «Moussalaha» program, which has allowed several Islamist prisoners to regain freedom.
Ten days after two Scandinavian tourists were brutally murdered near Imlil, authorities implemented new security measures. According to locals in the High Atlas town, tourists are now forced to hire guides to climb Mount Toubkal.
