Qubec Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusiveness Simon Jolin-Barrette addressed, earlier this month, increasing «the number of immigrants» wishing to settle down in the Canadian province.
Speaking at the Montreal Council on Foreign Relations (MCFR), Jolin-Barrette said he was determined to welcome around 40,000 immigrants to Quebec in 2019, as promised by Canadian center-right party Coalition Avenir Québec during its electoral campaign, report Le Devoir.
«We want to honor our commitment. We took time to reform our immigration policy, update it and improve it», he told the crowds in a downtown hotel in Montreal.
For the record, the Minister has already said that he is considering raising the number of newcomers admitted to Quebec.
