Ahead of his Afcon’s third game, Hervé Renard says he is «too expensive» for SAFA

Ahead of his third Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) game, French coach Hervé Renard, who currently manages Morocco’s Atlas Lions, said Sunday in a conference held in Egypt that he was contacted before by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

The coach revealed that SAFA wanted to hire him to manage Bafana Bafana, South African newspaper Times Live reports. «Of course, I'm not cheap», Renard said with a smile on the face. Renard turned to Saudi Arabian-based winger Nordin Amrabat and asked him : «Nordin, are you cheap?».

«No, no. And if you win two African Nations Cups, you are expensive», Amrabat replied, referring to Hervé Renard who won two Afcon cups with Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire. «So, if you want me one day [laughs]‚ you know it before», Renard concluded.

For the record, the Atlas Lions, headed by Renard, will be playing, Monday, against the South African team. This game is the third of its kind, after the Moroccan team secured six points, winning against Namibia and Cote d’Ivoire.

The Atlas Lions, who head Group D, have already qualified for the last 16 of Afcon, Friday.
