Spain will grant Morocco’s Interior Ministry €26 million to help the country manage its borders in Ceuta and Melilla and to curb the flow of migrants to Europe, El Pais revealed Thursday.

The agreement on the grant aforementioned will have to be approved by the Spanish Council of Ministers, government sources told the same newspaper.

El Pais indicates that the money allocated to the Kingdom will be used to purchase equipment. The grant is part of the €140 million promised by the European Commission, the same source recalls.

For the record, Morocco has already received €40 million from the money promised by the European Union.
