The Western Sahara issue is again not part of the provisional program of work of the Security Council for the month of August, which was released on Friday.

Presided by Poland for one month, the schedule made public by the UN body does not include meetings on the territorial issue.

It is the fourth Security Council program work schedule that does not make mention of the Western Sahara issue after the adoption of resolution 2468.

For the record, the MINURSO’s mandate will have to be renewed to another six months on October the 30th. The UN Secretary-General has not yet appointed a new personal envoy to the Sahara after Germany’s former president resigned in May, citing health issues.
