British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has finally apologized for calling Muslim women in veils «letterboxes».
Invited earlier this week to ITV’s «This Morning», a British television program, Johnson said he «apologized for any offence caused» by the article in which, he said that Muslim women wearing a face-covering veil look like «bank robbers» and «letterboxes».
«People dig out all sorts of articles … I’ve already said sorry for any offence caused and I say it again», he added.
Johnson further explained that his words were «taken out of context», wrote The Guardian on Thursday.
For the record, this is Boris Johnson’s second apology. Last week, the British Prime Minister apologized on behalf of the Conservative party for the «hurt and offence» that has been caused by Islamophobia.
His apologies come as his party suspended, in November, a number of its members for reportedly sharing Islamophobic posts online.
