The judicial police of the city of Tantan seized, on Monday, two tonnes and 988 kilograms of chira, as well as sea equipment suspected of having been used in international drug and psychotropic pills trafficking operations.
The investigation carried out within the framework of this case led to putting under surveillance a house located in a desert area about 12 kilometers south-west of Tantan, suspected of serving as a rear base for the storage of drugs and sea equipment used in this kind of trafficking, said a statement by the National Police (DGSN).
The owner of the house, aged 43, was arrested and 101 bundles of chira weighing a total of 02 tonnes and 988 kilograms were seized, in addition to four inflatable boats, five engines, 12 petrol cans containing 720 liters, a 4x4 vehicle and a shotgun loaded with 16 cartridges.
The suspects were remanded in police custody for the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
