After securing her place for this year’s Paralympic Games taekwondo tournament in Tokyo, Moroccan fighter Rajae Akermach said that it is a «dream» coming true.

Akermach won the women’s K44 over-58 kilograms title at the African qualification tournament on February 24 in Rabat, qualifying for the Tokyo 2020. Speaking to Olympic news website Inside the Games, Akermach said that «since 2015 [she has] been working for this dream». «Really, I don’t have words to express my feelings», she added.

Her latest victory comes after she lost in the final of the 2017 World Championships. «This time I hope to bring a Paralympic gold medal. Why not?» she told the same source.

For the record, the Paralympic Games taekwondo tournament is scheduled for this summer in Japan. Taekwondo will be making its «Paralympic debut» at Tokyo 2020, the same source concluded, adding that six fighters qualifying from Africa will participate in the sports event.
