Two confirmed coronavirus cases have been recorded in Morocco, bringing the number of those infected by the virus to four; the Health Ministry said in a press release issued Wednesday.
According to the health authorities, the new patients are the wife and daughter of the French tourist, who tested positive earlier this week for the virus.
The health authorities quarantined the two patients two days before they underwent the tests that confirmed their infection. These two new infections bring the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Morocco to five.
The fifth patient died, Tuesday, after she spent days at an intensive care unit in a Casablanca hospital. She tested positive for the virus after she returned from Italy.
According to the Health Ministry «all the cases recorded in Morocco are imported from foreign countries infected by the virus», referring to Italy and France.
In addition to the French tourist, the virus also infected a Moroccan national who travelled to Italy in February. In a press release, the health authorities said that the two men are in a «stable condition».
In its press release, the Ministry said that the French woman and her daughter are currently being treated in a Marrakech hospital and that their condition is «not life-threatening».
