A French tourist has tested positive for coronavirus in Morocco, bringing the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country to eight, the Health Ministry said in a press release issued Friday evening.

The patient is a 64-year-old woman who arrived in the city of Taroudant, southern Morocco, on March 2. On March 10, she showed coronavirus symptoms and called the number made available by the Health Ministry.

The patient then tested positive for the virus, health authorities said, adding that she is currently being treated in one of Agadir’s hospitals.

The other confirmed coronavirus cases in Morocco include a French tourist, his wife and daughter, a French-Senegalese woman, a Moroccan who has been to Spain, and a Moroccan who recovered. The other patient is an 89-year-old woman who died on Tuesday after contracting the virus.
