Morocco's ARM earmarks a 1.5 billion dirham fund for coronavirus management

The Association of Regions of Morocco (ARM) announced Monday that it earmarked 1.5 billion dirhams for the trust fund entitled «Special Fund for the Coronavirus pandemic Management (Covid-19)».

The presidents of the councils of the regions of Morocco met Monday in Rabat and agreed, on this occasion, to allocate 1.5 bln MAD to the trust fund, including 1 billion dirhams paid by the Interregional solidarity fund and 500 million dirhams by the budgets allocated to the regions, ARM said in a press release, welcoming the Royal Initiative to create this fund.

During this meeting on measures intended to contribute to the efforts by the State to deal with the coronavirus pandemic which affects several countries of the world, including Morocco, the presidents of the Regional Councils expressed their concern over the health, economic and social impact of this pandemic, as well as its negative repercussions on the conditions of the citizens in the various regions of Morocco, said the press release.

The ARM also stressed the need for the full adherence of the presidents of the Regional Councils to the efforts of the State, all institutions combined, to deal with the pandemic, adding that it will take all measures at regional level, within the framework of its competences and in cooperation with all the competent authorities, to contribute to the dissemination of best practices, in accordance with the instructions of the health authorities, in order to guarantee the continuity of the region's services, while ensuring the safety of its personnel.
