A watch committee for monitoring the supply of the national market with energy resources was created on Tuesday, as part of preventive measures aimed at facing the exceptional situation linked to the spread of the coronavirus.
Chaired by the Ministries of Interior, Energy, Mining and Environment with the participation of all stakeholders from the public and private sectors, the committee will hold its meetings periodically to inform the public opinion and sector players of the market supply situation from import to distribution as well as the measures taken to this effect.
Energy Minister Aziz Rebbah stressed that the establishment of this watch committee is one of the measures adopted to guarantee the security of the energy market supply, particularly in this exceptional situation that the Kingdom is undergoing.
In this context, he assured that all the provisions had been adopted with a view to to meet the needs of the energy resource market, in consultation with the various stakeholders.
All the contracts and measures put in place allow for 24-7 power supply, he noted, noting that all of the electricity production units have the potential to meet the needs of citizens and productive sectors, mainly industry and services.
He also highlighted the role that the storage and logistics system plays in supplying the different regions with fuels and gas cylinders.
The Minister also warned against speculation practices likely to affect market supply.
