The judicial police in the provincial security district of Tiznit arrested on Saturday five individuals for their alleged involvement in a case of illegal trafficking and speculation of state-subsidized food products.

The suspects were arrested in a warehouse for the storage and sale of food products in the Bizkad neighborhood of Tiznit, after the search operations led to the seizure of several tons of subsidized flour, sugar and powdered milk, said a statement from the National Police (DGSN), adding that the suspects were putting these products in non-subsidized branded packages in order to market them on the national market.

The seized foodstuffs consist of 23 tons and 750 kilograms of flour, 9 tons and 76 kilograms of sugar and 162 kilograms of powdered milk, added the DGSN.

The suspects were placed in police custody for the preliminary investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to shed light on the circumstances of this case, while investigations are continuing to arrest all the people who took part in these criminal acts, the statement concluded.
