Morocco records highest daily cases, with 2,776 infections in 24 hours

2,776 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Morocco during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 140,024.

2,788 new recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 118,142.

29 deaths were recorded between yesterday and today, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,439. Seven of these deaths were recorded in the region of Casablanca-Settat, 6 in Marrakech-Safi, 5 in Beni Mellal-Khénifra, 3 in Souss-Massa, 3 in the Oriental, 2 in Fès-Meknès, 1 in Laâyoune- Sakia El Hamra, 1 in Guelmim-Oued Noun and another in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.

The country has 19,443 active cases, including 424 in critical conditions. 40 of them are on ventilators.

Casablanca-Settat recorded 1,517 cases: 1,139 in Casablanca, 98 in Nouaceur, 73 in Mohammedia, 62 in Settat, 58 in Berrechid, 45 in El Jadida , 33 in Mediouna, 8 in Benslimane and one case in Sidi Bennour.

Then comes Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, with 236 cases: 100 in Skhirat-Témara, 58 in Kénitra, 33 in Salé, 32 in Rabat, 12 in Khemisset and one case in Sidi Kacem.

Beni Mellal-Khénifra follows with 222 new infections: 68 in Fqih Bensaleh, 63 in Khouribga, 40 in Beni Mellal, 29 in Khénifra and 22 cases in Azilal. 171 new cases were confirmed in Marrakech-Safi: 113 in Marrakech, 20 in Kelaa des Sraghna, 17 in Essaouira, 11 in Youssoufia, 8 in the province of Rhamna, one case in the province of El Haouz and one another in Chichaoua.

Souss-Massa recorded 166 new infections: 88 in Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, 36 in Inzegane-Ait Melloul, 33 in Taroudant, 7 in Tiznit and two cases in Chtouka Ait Baha.

The Oriental region confirmed 127 new cases: 42 in Oujda-Angad, 23 in Figuig, 16 in Berkane, 16 in Guercif, 15 in Nador, 8 in Taourirt, 4 in Driouch and 3 cases in Jerada.

85 new cases were confirmed in Guelmim-Oued Noun (48 in Assa Zag, 33 in Guelmim and 4 cases in Tan Tan) and 80 infections in Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (33 in Tétouan, 19 in Tanger-Assilah, 9 in Larache, 9 in M'Diq-Fnideq, 6 in Ouazzane, 3 in Al Hoceima and cases in Chefchaouen).

72 confirmed cases in Drâa-Tafilalet (44 in Errachidia, 10 in Tinghir, 7 in Midelt, 6 in Zagora and 5 in Ouarzazate) as well as 49 newly detected infections in Fès-Meknès (19 in Fès, 12 in Meknes, 10 in Sefrou and 8 in Taza). 

In the southern provinces, the city of Laâyoune recorded 47 new cases, while the province of Oued Ed-Daba counted 4 new infections.
