In Washington, Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita met with his counterpart Mike Pompeo. The two officials discussed Morocco’s efforts to «counter Iran’s malign influence». Attending the meeting of the Global Coalition to defeat ISIS, Bourita did not meet John Bolton as predicted.
For now, Morocco is not part of Donald Trump’s «Middle East Strategic Alliance». Establishing the new alliance with the participation of several nations would bring Rabat closer to the current administration and help it benefit for the gulf countries' financial contributions.
