After it repatriated the first group on Saturday, Morocco is to bring home 300 of its nationals that have been stranded in Algeria since March. While in quarantine, returnees from the first group have underwent a coronavirus test.
Moroccans repatriated from Algeria have been sent to a hotel in Saidia to observe a compulsory quarantine. They are expected to undergo coronavirus tests to rule out any infection.
Moroccans stranded in Algeria may be next on the list for repatriation. Well-informed sources told Yabiladi that Morocco is awaiting the authorization of the Algerian authorities to proceed with the repatriation operation.
Insufficient and allocated on a case-by-case basis, the financial assistance provided for Moroccans stranded abroad is largely the responsibility of diplomats. Due to psychological and financial pressure, voices have been raising to denounce the shortcomings of their ministry.
Stranded since March, several Moroccans have found themselves unable to afford their forced, long stays in Sub-Saharan African countries. Three of them have been exhaustedly awaiting a flight home.
