Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum said that his country expects from the United States the «impartiality required by the current challenges» on several issues, including that of Western Sahara.
After it recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara, the US ambassador to Morocco said that his country continues to support the UN political process on the dispute, pressing for the appointment of a new Personal Envoy.
During the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said he regretted the obstacles preventing the settlement of the Western Sahara conflict. The other allies of the Polisario, including South Africa, Namibia and Botswana, have also raised the question of the Sahara.
