Despite Algeria and the Polisario’s pressure, President Joe Biden did not address the Sahara issue during his first foreign policy speech.
Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum said that his country expects from the United States the «impartiality required by the current challenges» on several issues, including that of Western Sahara.
After it recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara, the US ambassador to Morocco said that his country continues to support the UN political process on the dispute, pressing for the appointment of a new Personal Envoy.
