On Wednesday, November the 21st, MEPs from the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs voted in favor of granting preferential tariff treatment to products coming from Western Sahara. The vote was criticized by the Polisario.
The Spanish government and the Polisario have been leading strong diplomatic campaigns at the European Parliament. This comes as the European Union institution is examining the fisheries and agricultural agreements concluded between Morocco and the body.
Morocco and the Polisario have both sent their lobbyists to Strasbourg to defend the fisheries agreement, signed in July between Rabat and the European Union, in the European Parliament.
