43.21.أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَاباً مِّن قَبْلِهِ فَهُم بِهِ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ
43.21. Ou bien leur avons-Nous donné, avant le Coran, un Livre auquel ils se réfèrent?
43.21 . Or have We given them any Scripture before ( this Quran ) so that they are holding fast thereto?
43.21. Am ataynahum kitaban min qablihi fahum bihi mustamsikoona
43.22.بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ
43.22. Il n'en est rien. Ils disent seulement : «Nous avons trouvé nos pères attachés à ce culte et nous suivons leurs traces.»
43.22 . Nay , for they say only : Lo! we found our fathers following a religion , and we are guided by their footprints .
43.22. Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihim muhtadoona
43.23.وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ
43.23. Il en a toujours été ainsi. Nous n'avons jamais envoyé, avant toi, un messager pour avertir une cité sans que ses habitants les plus opulents lui aient dit : «Nous avons trouvé nos pères attachés à ce culte et nous suivons leurs traces.»
43.23 . And even so We sent not a warner before thee ( Muhammad ) into any township but its luxurious ones said : Lo! we found our fathers following a religion , and we are following their footprints .
43.23. Wakathalika ma arsalna min qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qala mutrafooha inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihim muqtadoona
43.24.قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَى مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ آبَاءكُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ
43.24. Et quand le messager leur disait : «Et si je vous indiquais une meilleure direction que celle sur laquelle vous avez trouvé vos ancêtres?», les notables de la cité répondaient : «Nous ne croirons pas à votre message !»
43.24 . ( And the warner ) said : What! Even though I bring you better guidance than that ye found your fathers following? They answered : Lo! in what ye bring we are disbelievers .
43.24. Qala awa law ji/tukum bi-ahda mimma wajadtum AAalayhi abaakum qaloo inna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona
43.25.فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ
43.25. Aussi tirâmes-Nous vengeance de ces peuples. Considère donc quelle fut la fin des négateurs !
43.25 . So We requited them . Then see the nature of the consequence for the rejecters!
43.25. Faintaqamna minhum faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena
