After the UN Personal Envoy, Horst Kohler submitted his initial observations regarding the situation in the Sahara, the Polisario Front has raised concerns. The closed meeting organized by the UN Security Council has come a few weeks after the UN official visited the region.
Horst Kohler is believed to have proposed a solution for the Western Sahara conflict, inspired by the advisory opinion given by the Court of International Justice in October 1975 recognizing the existence of legal ties of allegiance between the Sultan of Morocco and some of the tribes living in the territory of Western Sahara. The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara has allegedly recommended the drafting of a «Sahrawi constitution».
The Polisario Front is once again angry at one of the European Union vital institutions. In fact, the separatist movement believes that the adoption of the Euro-Mediterranean EU-Morocco agreement on air transport undermines the «international rights of the Sahrawi people».
