The judicial police of the Nador police district thwarted, Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, an international drug trafficking operation, on the basis of accurate information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), and seized 4 Tonnes and 762 kilograms of cannabis resin.

The drugs were seized in two successive operations. The first was carried out in the area of «Oulad Amghar» (province of «Driouch») and resulted in the seizure of 70 bundles of cannabis resin totaling 2 tonnes and 552 kg while the second operation, conducted in Douar «Tizgha Ajdir», led to the seizure of 67 other bundles of cannabis resin weighing 2 tons and 210 kilograms, said the National Police (DGSN) in a statement.

Search operations carried out in conjunction with these security interventions resulted in the seizure of equipment and logistical material used in international drug trafficking, it added. Five cars, a motorcycle, an inflatable boat and two outboard motors were seized.

Investigation measures have led to the arrest of a 17-year-old for alleged involvement in this criminal activity, according to the same source.

The judicial police and DGST joint security operations are under way to identify other accomplices and determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, nationally and internationally.
