A 21-year-old Moroccan died in a cell in Las Palmas in murky circumstances. According to EFE, the young man was in preventive detention when he died. He was examined by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana investigating court and was not admitted to a migrant detention center, Morocco’s consul Ahmed Moussa said.

The death of this young man took place after a mother reported in a video the death of her son in a migrant reception center in Gran Canaria. EFE reported that no death had occurred at said center.

In the video, the woman explains the steps she says she has taken with the Moroccan consulate in the Canary Islands to repatriate her son's remains.
