Morocco is expected to raise customs duty on soft wheat and durum. The measure is to be implemented to help domestic farmers benefit from this year by limiting imports, Reuters wrote, quoting the agriculture minister.
The import duty will be revealed in upcoming days, Aziz Akhannouch told MPs. It is worth mentioning that wheat import duty has been suspended until May to secure price stability as the country was hit by a two-year drought.
According to Reuters, Morocco «imports 2 million to 3 million tonnes of soft wheat, mostly from France, depending on local output».
