Morocco's Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour on Wednesday launched production of two new Stellantis models, the Fiat Fastback and Fiat Grizzly, at the group's Kénitra plant, marking the rollout of its Smart Car platform for affordable petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles.

According to Mezzour, the launch reflects the rapid growth of the Kénitra factory since its inauguration by King Mohammed VI in 2019. The site now has an annual production capacity of nearly 535,000 vehicles and 350,000 engines, while its workforce has grown from 1,700 employees in 2019 to more than 7,200 today, with a target of 9,300 by the end of 2026.

The minister added that the plant has increased its local integration rate to 69% and transitioned to a more digitalized and automated production model, using artificial intelligence, computer vision systems and real-time guidance technologies.
