The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the ideal squad for the group stage of the 34th African Cup of Nations (AFCON), currently hosted by Cote d'Ivoire. Morocco leads the selection with four players.
The Moroccan national team is the most represented in this ideal lineup, boasting two defenders: Achraf Hakimi and Nayef Aguerd, alongside Senegal's Kalidou Koulibaly and the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Arthur Masuaku. Midfielders Sofyan Amrabat and Azzedine Ounahi join them, along with Senegal's Lamine Camara.
Following Morocco with three players is Senegal. Equatorial Guinea claims two positions, while Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo each have one player represented.
Morocco secured qualification by topping its group with 7 points. The Democratic Republic of the Congo follows as runner-up with 3 points, joining Morocco in the next round.
The Moroccan national team will face South Africa, who finished second, in the round of 16 next Tuesday at 9 p.m. Moroccan time.
