Moroccan National Security officers in Marrakesh apprehended a 37-year-old French citizen of Algerian origin last Thursday. Acting on intelligence from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, they executed an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities.
Based on Interpol records, the individual is subject to a red notice requesting his arrest to serve a prison sentence imposed by the French judiciary. He is suspected of involvement in a 2018 robbery of three valuable paintings, including one by a renowned French artist, perpetrated by a criminal network.
Currently under provisional custody, the suspect awaits further proceedings before the Public Prosecution. Meanwhile, the Interpol Rabat Office has notified its French counterpart of the arrest, initiating the extradition process.
