Heatwave in Morocco : Up to 48 degrees from Monday to Wednesday

A heat wave with red and orange alert levels is expected from Monday, July 22 to Wednesday, July 24 in several provinces of the kingdom, with temperatures ranging between 38 and 48°C, announced the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

Thus, temperatures ranging between 42 and 46°C are expected on Monday in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab, Youssoufia, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Errachidia, Khénifra, Khouribga, Aousserd, Settat, Fès, Sefrou, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Moulay Yacoub, Rehamna, Taounate, Ouezzane, Zagora, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Taroudant, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Khemisset, indicated the DGM in an orange alert bulletin.

Furthermore, hot weather (45-48°C) is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in the provinces of Tata, Taroudant, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Beni Mellal, Taounate, Fquih Ben Salah, Assa-Zag, and Es-Semara, specified the DGM in a red alert bulletin.

During the same period, the thermometer should display temperatures ranging between 38 and 42°C in the provinces of Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Tiznit, Essaouira, Berrechid, Larache, Safi, Guelmim, Sidi Bennour, Benslimane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Sidi Ifni, Chefchaouen, El Hajeb, Kénitra, Azilal, and Al Haouz according to an orange alert bulletin.

Temperatures moving between 42 and 45°C will also affect, during the same period, the provinces of Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Meknès, Fès, Khouribga, Khemisset, Youssoufia, Errachidia, Settat, Chichaoua, Khénifra, Sefrou, Taza, Ouezzane, Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Zagora, and Moulay Yacoub, in an orange alert bulletin.
