Just as the final whistle seemed imminent, the referee halted the game for a VAR check. The stadium was evacuated due to disturbances. Upon resumption, the VAR check overturned the goal. Morocco thus maintained their advantage in the remaining minutes of play.
This result allows the Atlas Lions to pocket three points and take the lead in Group B. The next matches for the national team are scheduled for July 27 against Ukraine in Saint-Etienne, and July 30 against Iraq in Nice.
