Riots erupt near Agadir following attack on sub-Saharan migrant

On Saturday, violent riots erupted in Lqliâa, a city situated in the suburban area of Agadir, involving approximately 150 individuals of sub-Saharan origin.

According to media reports, the unrest was triggered by an attack on a sub-Saharan individual, who was beaten, injured, and subjected to an attempted robbery by two assailants. In response, the Royal Gendarmerie launched an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecution, while the victim, who sustained head injuries, was transported to the hospital for medical care.

At around noon, a large-scale riot broke out, led by several sub-Saharan individuals. The incident involved obstructing traffic and throwing stones at local residents, as reported by a statement from the Inezgane Public Prosecution.

The attacks targeted homes, road users, and even members of law enforcement, spreading panic and chaos in the area. Security forces initiated intensive investigations, leading to the arrest of two suspects linked to the events, while efforts to apprehend the remaining perpetrators are ongoing.
