Morocco to receive Dutch unmanned naval vessels under €13 million deal

The Dutch government has approved a €13 million export license for military equipment destined for Morocco, authorizing the sale of two autonomous unmanned surface vessels along with sensors, control systems, spare parts, training and technical support for the Royal Moroccan Navy.

In a letter dated July 13, sent to the Dutch House of Representatives, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said the vessels are intended for anti-submarine and mine-countermeasure missions and were assessed under the EU's eight common criteria on arms exports.

The Dutch government described Morocco as a «stable and strategic security partner», citing its role in addressing irregular migration toward the Canary Islands.
