The first factory of MP Industry, a subsidiary of MEN Industry Group specializing in manufacturing plastic components for the automotive industry in Romania, was inaugurated on Friday at Automotive City, part of the Tanger Med Industrial Platform (TMZ).
The inauguration ceremony was led by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, with the participation of TMZ Director General Ahmed Bennis; President and CEO of Metaplast and MP Industry, Jean Drugescu; General Manager of MP Industry in Morocco, Dan Iacoban; General Manager of Renault Morocco, Mohamed Bachiri; and various officials, investors, and key figures from the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
Spanning an area of 35,000 square meters, the factory specializes in producing plastic parts using injection molding technology. It represents an investment of 437.62 million dirhams and is expected to generate 150 direct jobs.
Minister Mezzour highlighted the project's strategic importance for the national automotive industry's growth, stating, «This project, developed within the framework of the Renault ecosystem, reaffirms the attractiveness of Morocco's industrial platform». He emphasized that the facility, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will enhance Morocco’s competitiveness by enriching local value chains and bolstering domestic production.
Ahmed Bennis, TMZ Director General, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, remarking, «We are delighted to support MP Industry and Romanian investors in achieving international competitiveness while furthering industrial integration within Morocco's automotive sector».
Jean Drugescu echoed this sentiment, citing the sector's growth potential and Africa's market opportunities. He stated, «Thanks to the support of Moroccan authorities, we are confident in our ability to integrate into the local automotive industry», proudly adopting the slogan, «We are Moroccan».
Mohamed Bachiri underscored the significance of this milestone for Morocco's automotive ecosystem. He affirmed Renault's commitment to collaborating with MP Industry to meet objectives, increase local integration rates, and enhance the global competitiveness of Morocco's industrial platform.
Reflecting its commitment to sustainability, MP Industry has outfitted the new facility with photovoltaic panel systems and installed lines for crushing and recycling plastic waste. This initiative aligns with its vision of promoting sustainable practices within the automotive sector.
