In a significant turn of events in the high-profile French lawyer case, known as the «Bennis-Alj-Slaoui» case, the Casablanca Court of Appeal's public prosecution has received a crucial phone recording. The recording captures a conversation between the main defendant, Kamil Bennis, and Julie, a friend of the complainant.
According to sources from Hespress, Julie confesses in the call that she accompanied the complainant and a Moroccan acquaintance to a «sorcerer» in Marrakech. This sorcerer allegedly revealed that the complainant was raped while unconscious, prompting her to file complaints in both France and Morocco against the four accused: Kamil Bennis, M’hammed Alj, Saad Slaoui, and Ahmed Daghbour. The investigative judge is currently scrutinizing the recording.
Julie, residing in Marrakech, disclosed that she and her lawyer friend sought the «charlatan» urgently after the complainant returned from Casablanca, where she had attended a party at a villa in Ain Diab. The «sorcerer» informed the French lawyer that she had been drugged and raped without her knowledge, as she was unconscious. Subsequent medical tests in France led to the filing of her initial complaint with French authorities.
Further insights from the National Judicial Police Squad's hearing reports indicate that multiple testimonies suggest the complainant was actively seeking the main suspect during the party. It was apparent she was tracking his movements throughout the evening. No evidence emerged to indicate she was forcibly detained or prevented from leaving the party. The complainant reportedly stayed at the villa until the following morning and afternoon, eventually departing in a car sent by a friend to Marrakech, before flying back to her home country via Menara Airport.
The case traces back to a party organized by Kamil Bennis on November 2 at a villa in Casablanca's Ain Diab neighborhood, attended by around 100 guests. Bennis and the three other accused face charges of rape under the influence of GHB, commonly referred to as the «date rape drug», as per the prosecutor's statements.
Since November 23, the defendants have been held in Ain Sebaa local prison, as investigations continue to unravel the details of this case, which has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of individuals from influential families.
