In accordance with the royal directives, preparations for the 2026 legislative elections are now in motion. On Saturday, August 2, in Rabat, the Minister of the Interior held two meetings with political party leaders to deliberate on the forthcoming elections.

These discussions centered on «the fundamental issues related to the general framework of the 2026 legislative elections», as stated by the ministry under Abdelouafi Laftite's leadership.

Following these sessions, party representatives pledged to submit their proposals regarding the general framework of the upcoming legislative elections to the Ministry of the Interior by the end of August.

In his throne speech on July 29, King Mohammed VI entrusted the Minister of the Interior with the meticulous preparation of the next legislative elections. He underscored that «political consultations must be conducted with the various concerned stakeholders».

The King particularly highlighted «the importance of preparing the General Election Code for the House of Representatives, which must be adopted and made public before the end of the year».
