PJD slams EU plan to renegotiate trade deal with Morocco over Sahara rulings
DR

The General Secretariat of the PJD has strongly denounced the European Commission's proposal to initiate negotiations with Morocco. This move aims to align with the European Court of Justice's October 4 rulings, which exclude products from Western Sahara from agreements with the kingdom.

«Moroccan sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara is not open to any form of blackmail or negotiation. This matter is exclusively handled within the United Nations framework, adhering to Morocco's proposal for autonomy under its sovereignty», declared the body in a statement released on Monday, September 15.

Nonetheless, the PJD urges the EU's member states «to consider the strategic ties that link Morocco to the Union and to engage positively with the evolving dynamics of this relationship at both regional and international levels, especially in light of the positions of several influential European countries that support the fair and rightful stance of the Kingdom of Morocco».

As a reminder, in his address on November 6, 2024, marking the 49th anniversary of the Green March, King Mohammed VI asserted that «Morocco's partnerships and legal commitments will never compromise its national unity and territorial integrity». This message was directed at the EU following the European Court of Justice's rulings on October 4, 2024.
