The United States and Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have completed Maroc Mantlet 2025, their premier annual disaster-response training, in Rabat.
Nearly 30 Utah National Guard Soldiers and Airmen joined FAR alongside Morocco’s Nuclear, Radiological, Biological and Chemical (NRBC) response committee, Civil Protection, the Ministry of Interior, and the Directorate for National Security (DGSN), reads a press release on Thursday.
The exercise, running since 2013, focused on civil-military disaster preparedness and integrated firefighting, CBRN response, search and rescue, emergency medical care, and the use of unmanned aerial systems. This year’s edition emphasized prevention, crisis management, humanitarian coordination, and advanced drone use for rapid situational awareness and command operations.
«We are honored to participate in Maroc Mantlet this year, and each year since 2013», said Lt. Col. Adam Sherman, officer in charge of the Utah National Guard team. «Our goals are to continue to build relationships with our Moroccan partners, demonstrate and test new technologies and equipment, and work side by side with interagency partners in search and extraction, firefighting, medical, and CBRN response».
Moroccan and U.S. officials say the exercise highlights Morocco’s growing regional role in humanitarian response, reinforcing interoperability and aligning with U.S. Africa Command’s goal of building resilient regional partners. Following the exercise, Morocco’s Relief and Rescue Unit and other participants will conduct validation training to institutionalize best practices for future real-world crises.
