The U.S. Mission successfully launched Morocco’s first FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team on Friday, December 19, in Casablanca, in partnership with Loop for Science and Technology.

A prestigious, globally recognized U.S.-based STEM program designed by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the competition highlights American leadership in science, technology, and innovation, while marking an important step in expanding access to world-class STEM education for young people in Morocco, reads a press release by the US Embassy in Morocco.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges high school students to design, build, and program industrial-scale robots, while developing critical skills in engineering, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. By combining the excitement of competition with rigorous STEM learning, the program prepares students for future careers in science and technology.

The event also served as the official kick-off meeting for the FRC season, introducing students and their mentors to the competition framework. The session covered the rules, season timeline, expectations, and overall structure, while providing participants with an opportunity to network and begin preparing for the robotics competition season ahead.
