Approximately 390,000 widows are now beneficiaries of Morocco’s direct social assistance program, Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, announced on Thursday during a press briefing in Rabat.

Responding to questions at a press conference following the Government Council meeting, Baitas said the direct social assistance framework currently supports 3.9 million families. He added that the budget allocated to expanding social protection has reached 41.5 billion dirhams this year.

The minister noted that the number of beneficiaries has quadrupled, describing the program as a cornerstone of the government’s strategy to build a strong social state.

He further emphasized that the government is continuing to roll out the program on the ground, reaffirming its readiness to engage in dialogue in order to improve implementation and address any shortcomings that may arise.
