Authorities in Tetouan province will begin evacuating residents from flood-prone areas to designated shelters on Tuesday, February 3, as a precaution ahead of the severe weather expected on Wednesday, February 4.

More than 900 personnel have been mobilized, including security forces, civil protection teams, national assistance units, and volunteers. The response also includes the deployment of over 252 mobile units, such as pumping trucks and bulldozers.

The Provincial Vigilance and Monitoring Committee, chaired by Governor Abderrazzak Mansouri, met on Monday to coordinate field operations and adopt preventive measures aimed at minimizing risks.

These measures include clearing stormwater drainage systems and closely monitoring areas vulnerable to flooding, particularly low-lying neighborhoods and sensitive road sections, to avoid possible traffic disruptions.

Authorities also decided to suspend classes on Tuesday and Wednesday across the province in schools, universities, and vocational training institutions.
