Field operations were carried out on Wednesday in the Al Haouafate commune, in the province of Sidi Kacem, to monitor the health of livestock and provide necessary care to animals affected by the recent severe weather conditions.

These interventions, organized by the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) in coordination with local authorities and Civil Protection, included administering treatment to animals impacted by flooding.

At the same time, targeted vaccination campaigns were launched, including vaccinations of cattle against foot-and-mouth disease and sheep against sheep pox and peste des petits ruminants.

According to ONSSA, veterinary teams were mobilized to operate across flooded areas, visiting barns to assess livestock health and carry out vaccinations and treatments as needed.

Wassim Belqia, a farmer from Al Haouafate, praised the efforts of local authorities and Civil Protection, which enabled ONSSA veterinarians to reach farms and inspect livestock despite impassable roads.

In parallel, the Gharb Regional Office for Agricultural Development (ORMVA), in coordination with local authorities, continued the free distribution of barley and compound feed to breeders affected by the adverse weather in Al Haouafate.

These measures form part of a broader mobilization led by provincial and local authorities to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the Sebou River.
